With Galathée, Maërl wishes to follow the tradition of French design and honor local materials and craftmanship
Saddlery in full-grain bull leather, armrests in solid local woods and steel tubes with a "gun barrel" patina combine lightness, colors and textures in reference to the galathea : a small crustacean from our oceans.

Maërl's commitement
All our creations are handmade in France by our trusted craftsmen: tanners, saddlers, upholsterers, machinists and boilermakers with whom we work to create unique objects.
We are constantly striving to improve our production. We combine contemporary design with traditional craftsmanship, using only traditional glues, varnishes and waxes and no synthetic products.
The name "Maerl" is rich in meaning: it refers to a seaweed endemic to the Breton coastline, symbolizing local, sustainable natural beauty in harmony with the environment.
The Ocean is our muse. Each drawing tells the story of a sea creature. The ocean is more beautiful without plastic, and so are our chairs.
